Me

My name is Shireen Daureeawoo. I was born on a gorgeous island in the southwest of the Indian Ocean called Mauritius.  My family and friends refer to me as an "energy ball" since I am constantly on the go. I enjoy socializing with people from other cultures and learning about their traditions. I am ambitious, generous, optimistic, proactive, and tenacious.

I have been teaching French as a Second Language in international schools for the past 15 years and taught French as a First Language before that. Teaching is one of my greatest passions, and I like sharing that love with others.

One of the books that has inspired and impacted me the most as an educator is 'A passion for Education - The story of a Headteacher' (2014). It is the story of a headteacher who fought for his educational philosophy. He infused his school with his passion and vision, transforming it into one of the best. At the early years of his teaching career, he was a rebel who advocated for his convictions in a suffocatingly conventional, bureaucratic institution, taking on the whole school's hierarchy. This book made me realize that an inspirational educator is one who approaches education holistically, who can demonstrate to others that teaching is about being dedicated to children's holistic development, and who can make a difference.
